Sneak Peak at bad Historical Fiction

The third book in The Luxe series is now out. Yipppeee! I personally think it's the worst historical fiction I have ever read. The series is nothing more than gossip girls with a historical backdrop. The book is a mindless read about catty girls in pretty dresses that somewhat resembles the Victorian Era. I do hate the series, but I'm aware that some teens may love it. Harper Teen has posted a link so you can read the first chapter.

If the books are set in the Victorian era (supposedly), the dress seems a little too modern as well. You gotta admit it's pretty though.

I won't lie. The cover of The Luxe is what made me pick up the book. The covers are very pretty, but the historical details could use a little work.

haha! you said exactly what my friend said. i love gossip girl, but it's not pretending to be a historical--just pretending that those kids are actually in high school. i forget most times. ha!

I had another comment about Victorian Era books. I have no idea why it's not posting. Anyway, the writer wanted to know if there were any good Victorian Era books out there.

I have to say that I love the Victorian Era, but I find it is very difficult to find books about the era. I cannot think of any YA books that fit into that category save A Northern Light. I'll have to do some research and get back to ya.

I do have a list of adult books that are set in the Victorian Era. I hope these are helpful.
