Daughters of the Witching Hill is an adult novel for my mature teen readers. Every once in a while I have teens who like to explore adult novels. For those looking for something different they should give Ms. Sharratt's latest novel a go.
This story takes place in Tudor era England. Bess Southerns is a widow who is a beggar. Always looking to make some money she becomes a wise woman for some meager food. Bess's luck turns for the worst when she gets into an argument with a salesmen and he dies. A young witch hunter goes after Bess and soon the countryside is engulfed in witch hunting.
I enjoyed this book. It is told in first person and is Bess' story. Students may feel the story is slow at first, but if they stick with it they will get an excellent story that sheds light on a scary time in history.

Love the premise....I'll pick this one up despite my mistrust of first person POV, lol.
First person can be tricky. But I enjoyed this one.
